Wednesday Afternoons - 4:30-6pm
(student may arrive at 4pm to help set-up/ hang out etc). We have popcorn, drinks etc. Ages 7- 12

Schoolhouse Cooks! is back with new recipes and fun cooking projects.
Each week we'll learn new techniques, explore ingredients and flavors from around the world and HAVE FUN IN THE KITCHEN!

$170 for 5 week session and $200 for 6 week session includes 1.5 hour cooking class. The last class of each session is a “tasting” for families to attend. More details will come out after class starts.
One Makeup class is allowed per session.

WINTER 1 - COOKING 101- 5 weeks - $170

JAN 9 - SOUPS! We’ll learn the basics of knife skills, building flavors with aromatics and soup making resulting in 2 delicious soups: Minestrone + Chicken Noodle.
JAN 16 - BREADS! Homemade Biscuits + Yeast Rolls. Kids love working with dough and these 2 doughs present different challenges.
JAN 23 - VEG PREP! A lifetime of good cooking starts with veg prep. We’ll take apart veggies - peeling and chopping! Then roast them for a salad with homemade vinaigrette as well as a marinara sauce for pasta.
Jan 30 - BEANS + GRAINS! We’ll explore the tasty world of beans + grains by making a classic “RICE BOWL” a la Chipotle with fresh salsa, guacamole and more.
We’ll also whip up some of our kid approved black bean brownies. Yum!

FEB 6 - FAMILY DINNER! Arrive at 5:30pm for a family dinner made by your young chef! 5:30 - 6:30pm. If your child cannot stay that long just let us know.
There will be something for everyone.

WINTER 2 - PARTY FOODS PRIMER! - 6 weeks $200

FEB 13 - DIPS + CHIPS! We’ll make 3 delicious party dips and homemade flatbread crackers to enjoy them with.
FEB 20 - Gourgeres class - or Cheesy Poufs! These fancy cheesy poufs are so fun to make and kids love them. We’ll also make Cheese crackers, as well.
FEB 27 - POTSTICKERS + PEROGIES! Using 2 different types of dough we’ll make classic finger foods that are fun to make and eat and accompanying sauces.
MARCH 6 - Whoopie Pies with 3 different fillings + Sparkling Punch!
Students will learn to use piping bags as well as some basic baking and icing techniques. We’ll also experiment with MIXOLOGY and create our own sparkling punch from fruits, herbs and fizzy water.
MARCH 13 - Mini Pizza Cups and Deviled Eggs. Kids will learn many new skills creating these time tested party favorites.
MARCH 20 - HAPPY HOUR! Your family is invited to join us for a party catered by your young chefs. 5:30- 6:30pm. If your child cannot stay that long just let us know.
There will be something for everyone.

COOKING classes will include - eggs, gluten, dairy and some other possible allergens but SUGAR BEET SCHOOLHOUSE USES NO NUTS/ TREE NUTS.  
Please make us aware of your child’s/ families allergies when you register.

Note:  To ensure quality classes with competitive prices, we limit our enrollment and as such, cannot offer refunds or credit for missed classes nor can missed classes be accumulated and used as credit or payment. You may send another student (your child or a friend’s child) in place of your child, though. Please email cheryl@sugarbeetschoolhouse.org in this instance.
